Sparta Wisconsin News – The totals are in, and most of Wisconsin saw a pretty large up tick in deer harvest for the opening of gun season. The DNR divides Monroe County into 2 management zones. One is Central Farmland and the other is Central Forest.
In the Central Farmland Zone in 2014, hunters harvested 2,381 deer 1138 were antlered deer for opening gun season. This years opener, hunters harvested, 3,034 with 1493 having antlers.
In the Central Forest Zone, last year 229 deer were harvested on opening weekend, 157 were antlered. This years opener, hunters harvested 472 with 288 being antlered.
